JJ's Recent Photos - 25 March 2012

On this day our randomly chosen West reef dive spot turned out to be a surge channel filled with juvenile tangs. The surge channels on either side had almost none at all while the one we anchored over had literally thousands of them. These little fish develop in open water and are translucent until they reach 40-50mm in size when nature triggers them to "settle out" on the reef where they quickly take on juvenile coloration. This particular day happened to be the day after a new moon which probably accounted for the settling.
