Nudibranch - Aegires serenae

One of the strangest nudibranchs in Pohnpei is Aegires serenae. It is one of several species that are very rigid and difficult to recognize as they blend in so well with the sponge they feed on. This animal was large at 70mm. The three strange curved segments are gill coverings. Although the rhinophores on the head (lower right) are yellow, the foot is even brighter and solid yellow.
