Chevron tang - Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis

This attractive juvenile tang is commonly called a "chevron tang" as the pattern usually consists of straighter bars forming a chevron pattern. This individual was large at 50mm and will soon lose its bright colors becoming a much duller gray, fine-lined adult Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis.
