Banggai cardinalfish - Pterapogon kauderni

This stunning Cardinalfish we saw in Bali only at Secret Bay, where they were quite common. Large and small individuals hide within the spines of long spined urchins as well as the tentacles of anemones. Until recently restricted to a very few islands in Indonesia, this species has been introduced to Bali and several other areas and has done quite well. This Pterapogon kauderni was 4 cm and was living in a large carpet anemone.
