Worm mollusk - Vermetid

Vermetids are mollusks that create calcareous tubes embedded in rocks or corals and extrude mucus "nets" which ensnare bits of food the animal then retrieves for harvest. The brown circle is the animal's operculum or "trap door." The opening was 15mm in diameter and the tube had been covered in fire coral.
