Eglantine cowry - Cypraea (Mauritia) eglantina

Juvenile cowries often look quite different from their adult form. As the shell matures, it thickens its shell by depositing layers of calcium carbonate, and lastly produces a pattern unique to each species. This is a juvenile Cypraea eglantina, 40mm.
