Spiny lobster - Panulirus versicolor

Not often seen diving and perhaps difficult to distinguish in this photo, a large lobster, Panulirus versicolor, was well protected as he wedged into a narrow crevice with only long antenna protruding. His vulnerable tasty body is well protected by a host of sharp spines covering his head and carapace. His body was probably a foot (30cm) in length.
