Spanish dancer egg mass

This 2-3 inch (65-80 mm) ruffled ribbon of brightly colored eggs belongs to a large nudibranch, Hexabranchus sanguineus also called a Spanish Dancer. We have occasionally seen large individuals off Carlson Island at night that measured over 12 inches (31cm). The nudibranchs come out to lay their showy eggs in the open but return to good hiding places during the day.
