Water striders - Halobates sericeus

These surprising little marine insects are Halobates sericeus and were deposited in sandy depressions by the high tide. Commonly known as "water striders," the water quickly drained away leaving many hopping around in the dry sand. The largest of these tiny blue striders were 10mm including legs.
