Sundial shell - Heliacus sp.

A shallow reef soft coral, Palythoa sp., found abundantly along the east reef intertidal zone near the reef edge, is home to a number invertebrates including nudibranchs and sundial shells. This small black and white species with a "tiered" conical operculum is one of three sundial species who feed on the polyps of the tough coral upon which it is crawling. 7mm
