After a long boat ride to our first dive site of the day, we arrived at an area with a vast sandy bottom, mostly devoid of critters save for a large soft coral around 24 inches tall (61cm) growing in the open, down a sandy slope. It was bustling with inhabitants including several fish and shrimp but in particular, teeming with soft coral porcelain crabs, Lissoporcellana nakasonei, up to about 15mm in width.
