Foraminifera


Forams are an interesting group of tiny animals who we see primarily living on sediment or algae. Most are only 1 -2 mm and barely noticeable. Others we see here grow to nearly 10mm and create intricate tests (shells) made of calcium carbonate. This one was about 6mm in diameter.
