Bivalve - Scintilla sp.

Kwaj is home to a number of interesting clam species in the Scintilla group, which have small smooth valves containing a large amount of animal and a thin mantle covering. They live in small groups under rocks and when disturbed, can extend a long foot to propel themselves around as they hurry to take shelter. They are usually not more than 10mm and some species can be much smaller.
