JJ's Recent Photos - 19 December 2016 - Kwaj

Long ago, a large sand spit formed in the lagoon between two small east reef islands separated by a shallow reef and which was greatly influenced by tidal effects. Although a causeway that stopped the flow of water across the reef was built between the islands over 25 years ago, the sand spit continued to support large, often seasonal, patches of small rocks and Halimeda algae separated by large areas of sand and creating a diversity of habitats on the top, sides and base of the spit. It was always a favorite dive site for both day and night.
