Umbrella shell - Umbrachulum umbrachulum

At the end of our last night dive for this day we were pleased to find this large orange and white Umbraculum umbraculum sometimes called the umbrella slug. Formerly related to Pleurobranchs, this large fleshy animal has a thin, sand covered external shell on top and crawls out from beneath the sand at night to feed on sponges. Not uncommon in some areas but always a pleasure to find. 70mm
