Montaña de Oro
Following
the recent tragic mudslides in our area, our only practical southern route out
of Santa Barbara was closed for two weeks, preventing us from reaching Ventura
harbor, our pathway to the islands.
Not wanting to waste a beautiful weekend, we headed north with friends to
visit Montaña de Oro, a large and stunning state park to our north. The
name "Mountain of gold” comes from the golden wildflowers often found
in the park.
Although down from the previous day, the surf from a Pacific winter storm
was cresting at around 17 feet.
Hopefully you will enjoy a few scenery shots of one of the most beautiful
"above water" areas along the central California coast.
