Mandarin goby - Synchiropus splendidus

One of the only ways to photograph this event is by sitting in one area using a red light only, and wait patiently for a pair to begin their mating ritual; swimming slowly together about 12 inches above the coral to spawn before quickly diving back to the safety of the coral. Each diver from our boat was "assigned" a patch of coral to spend an hour waiting for the opportunity to photograph the event, which was repeated around 6 times.
