Hapalochlaena lunulata (Quoy
& Gaimard, 1832)
Bluering octopus
The highly venomous Bluering octopus
delivers its often fatal venom through a bite, which is intended mostly as a
defense. The blue rings become vivid and highly visible to warn potential predators
away. We saw most of these in reef sites such as Koala, Ligpo, Kitchen Rock
and Bethlehem.
