Aclyvolva lanceolata
(Sowerby, 1849)
25mm
This species lives on red Ellisella
gorgonians, and this particular specimen was on the slope at Mato Point.
These lighter colored forms were
formerly considered a separate species, Aclyvolva lamyi, but has been
determined to be a color form of A. lanceolata. This one was more orange
and lived on a branching gorgonian. It was found at night at Red Palm.
Even lighter colored individuals
live on long, usually unbranched stalks of a white to light tan gorgonian that
we have seen at Bubbles and at Devil's Point.
Below appears to be a younger specimen.
