Cypraea tigris Linnaeus,
1758
Tiger cowry, 100mm
We saw several of these in shallow
water at Tulamben. Most were in rocky reefs, but the one pictured below was
exposed on a black sandy slope at Pura Segara. We saw it on both day and night
dives at this spot in June 2014.

This shell had a rough patch.

Interestingly, on a subsequent trip in November 2014, we saw a different Cypraea
tigris (below) in nearly the same spot that the one above had been five
months earlier.

The one below was in a rocky ledge
at night at Melasti.

At Batuniti.

The shells in the two photos below
were about a half meter from each other at night at Kuanji.

This one was tucked under some
Xenia soft coral during the day at Padangbai.
