Phenacovolva cf rosea
[1] (Adams, 1855)
25mm
These may all be forms of Phenacovolva
rosea. Right now we are tentatively leaving them separate due to their
generally lighter coloration and where they live. These were all found on a
whitish to light gold colored gorgonian with white polyps (Stephanogorgia
diomedea), usually found below about 20m on dark sand slopes at several
sites near Tulamben. Our standard P.
rosea tends to live on a larger, more red colored gorgonian growing
either shallow or deep on the same slopes.
