Primovula cf rosewateri
(Cate, 1973)
7mm
These tiny ovulids were on small
white gorgonians at about 20m and deeper at Batuniti and Baturinggit. They are
similar to and likely variations of Primovula
rosewateri, which were found in the same areas but usually on different
gorgonians. The dark siphons and tentacles of the two species are similar, but
the one figured here had black spots more sparsely distributed, and just a few
low yellowish papillae. It seemed best to figure them separately for now.
