Prosimnia draconis
Cate, 1973
12mm
It is difficult to distinguish
between this and the species we are calling Prosimnia
semperi. According to Lorenz
& Fehse (2009) the primary differentiating character in shell sculpture
is one that we cannot reliably see in our photos of the living animals. We have
divided them based on the presence of a more prominent transverse ridge of nodules
near the anterior end of the shell in P. draconis. That feature, however,
seems to vary, and there may not be a sharp dividing line between the more and
less nodulolse forms. We saw these two species at a number of sites around Bali,
including the Tulamben area and Gilimanuk near the western end of the island.
