The common name "deep-water frogfish" is something of a misnomer as we have seen them commonly as shallow as 10m or so. Recently recognized and redescribed, these small frogfish are among the most common species we saw. They tend to live in muck sites, often around or under debris or algae on sandy slopes. Frequently we find two or three very different color forms together.
