Nemapterois biocellatus (Fowler, 1938)
Twinspot lionfish, 20cm*

These photos were taken at various sites in the Tulamben area. *Although Fishbase reports the maximum size as 13cm, we have certainly seen larger individuals. Another common name used for these fish is Twospot turkeyfish, although I particularly like the one we used to use in the Marshalls: Fu Manchu lionfish, for the long tendrils on either side of the mouth. It's a more colorful name.
