We tentatively identified this animal as Antennarius maculatus due to the numerous warts on what is visible on the head. However, in coloration, it seemed identical to some web photos we have seen of A. commerson. We have only the one photograph of this specimen, taken in Hawaii, and it is reproduced in its entirety here.
