Janthina janthina (Linnaeus, 1758)
18mm
These
form bubble rafts to which they cling to float on the surface of the ocean,
where they eat floating siphonophores such as the Portuguese man-o-war. We could
occasionally find them washed in on windward beaches. There is a better view
of the animal and shell on the Marshall
Islands page.
