Gray reef sharks, Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos, are common throughout most of the atoll. The only places you do not see many are in the vicinity of Kwajalein Island, where there is a lot of boat traffic and diving activity. I think people in the water all the time encourages the sharks to move elsewhere. Beyond the areas commonly visited by divers, there are many gray reefs, often feisty ones.
