Anas acuta Linnaeus, 1758
Northern Pintail
Marshallese: "rõn"

The Northern Pintail is considered an "uncommon migrant" (Clapp, 1990) at Kwajalein. We have seen them several different years in winter and spring, usually in a rain filled trench along the lagoon side of the runway or in the water catchment on the runway at Roi-Namur. We have also seen them in and around the raw fresh water tanks and in a rain-filled depression next to the Richardson Theater. It was one of three species of ducks present at the same time in March, 2012.
