The Ruff is considered an Accidental Migrant by Clapp (1999), who reviewed several sightings and a collected bird at Kwajalein, Roi-Namur and Enewetak Atoll. In color it resembles the Pacific Golden Plover, but is a bit larger and has a longer bill. This individual was photographed in February 2018 by Stan Jazwinski on Kwajalein.
