The Eurasian Tree Sparrow is an introduced species. It was first recorded in the latter part of the 1970s from a few birds but the population has grown to many hundreds or more. They have been considered a pest for making nests in the vent holes of electrical vaults and other buildings.
Christina Sylvester photographed what appears to be a rare black morph of this species.
