Tridacna maxima (Röding,
1798)
One of the smaller giant clams
and highly variable in color, these are typically found embedded in hard reef.




This one has some resemblance in
color and the distinct flutes on the shell to
Tridacna squamosa, but we are tentatively leaving it here due to
the row of black dots aound the mantle margin.
