Seraya is a popular macro photography site with lots of nudibranchs as well as several kinds of frogfish and pipefish, two species of ghost pipes, stomatopods, commensal crabs and shrimp in crinoids, ovulid shells on gorgonians, furry squat lobsters (Lauriea siagiana) in sponges, a good chance to see Harlequin shrimp, and a lot more. There is one rock to the right of the staging area that has housed a large Gymnothorax favagineus moray eel for as long as we have been coming to Bali.
There are several concrete structures off the staging area and to the right and a wire mesh dome to the left where attempts have been made to transplant corals and build up a coral reef. Some of the corals have taken and grown, but most have not. However, the structures themselves are enough to attract some interesting fish.
