West of Seraya

This is actually two sites a short distance west of Seraya, both black sand and rubble slopes. Both were rich in nudibranchs, including a species of Doto we were eager to see. There were also a number of small sand-dwelling octopus, cuttlefish, ghost pipefish and other pipefish, several small frogfish of various species, different colored stomatopods, three more spectacular blue-lined scorpionfish (Parapterois heterura). The first photo below looks east back toward Seraya.

The beach here was less rocky, making for easier water entry.

We had to wait out a pretty swift along-shore current that came up during the first dive, which can be seen as the swirling water just offshore.. It had diminshed by the second.

Warming up between dives. Ketut has the blue towel.

Looking west, we see a rocky outcrop that I assume was the east side of the set of reefs that is bordered on the west side by the Tulamben dropoff. The second site we tried was between here and that rocky outcrop.

A couple of jukung outriggers off the rocky point.
