Tubulophilinopsis gardineri (Eliot, 1903 )

Tubulophilinopsis gardineri is uncommon in the Marshalls, with most specimens having been seen on lagoon reefs and pinnacles, usually in sandy areas. We also saw specimens in the Solomon Islands and in Fiji. This may have been previously reported in the Marshalls from Enewetak Atoll as Chelidonura velutina by Switzer (1971).

Immediately below is a specimen from Majuro found by Ken Cone and Beth Van Zummeren.

Some specimens can have a few white spots.

The specimen below was found on Kwajalein Atoll's seaward reef in sand at 15m on 16 February 2010.

One from March 2016 in a seaward reef surge channel.

Although the lateral flaps look dark, they are actually rather translucent.
