Platydoris ? sp. e488
25mm

Tentatively identified as a Platydoris, this species is known in the Marshalls from about three specimens from Kwajalein Atoll. All were found on Halimeda algae on a lagoon slope at a depth of about 8 meters, the upper one on 4 July 2007 and the second on 27 May 2008. The three specimens differ a bit from one another and may actually not be the same. The internal anatomy was not examined. The upper one in particular looks as though it could be a young specimen of the real Platydoris sanguinea, which we figure from Kosrae. These specimens resemble two other unidentified species, Platydoris? sp. e477 and Platydoris? sp. e492; although most likely they are all variations of one species, for now we are keeping them separate.

The two photos below show a specimen found on 3 December 2012 in a lagoon Halimeda patch.
