It is possible that this is a maroon color form of Hallaxa cryptica although that species seems to always be found or or next to its particular prey sponge, which was not present anywhere near this new one. It also could be Hallaxa sp.e693. This one measured 12mm in length and was on a Kwajalein Atoll lagoon reef, under a rock at a depth of 5m on 1 January 2011.
