Cratena sp. e591
10mm

This small eolid is known in the Marshalls from several specimens at Majuro Atoll, including the approximately 10mm specimen found by John and Lynette Flynn along the shallow reef, as well as several animals at Kwajalein. The first photo below shows a well marked Majuro specimen.

Several more were found on Majuro by Ken Cone and Beth Van Zummeren, one with the cerata cores more reddish. The color of the digestive system branches in the cerata depend on the color of the food being eaten.

The next one was photographed at Kwajalein by Stan Jazwinski.

The one below was one of two measuring 5 and 6mm long, which were shaken out of a mass of hydroids and Halimeda algae growing under a floating dock in Kwajalein Harbor on 21 June 2009.

The next two shots show two more specimens, also 5 and 6mm long, found under a rock on a Kwajalein lagoon reef at a depth of 4m on 21 February 2010.
