Cratena affinis (Baba, 1949)

This would appear to be the Cratena affinis in Gosliner et al (2015). The first two specimens, photographed immediately below, came off a hydroid sample brought up from the steep seaward slope at Kwajalein; the same colony had three specimens of Flabellina sp. e639 as well. The two specimens were about 5 and 6mm long (not including the tentacles). We were not able to get high resolution photos of these animals.

Another individual was found on hydroids at night in a seaward reef cave at a depth of about 15m. This one was larger but appeared to have damaged cephalic tentacles.

At least one other individual has been photographed by Jay Lord.
