Kam Reef, Oahu

Kam Reef is a pretty good-sized intertidal and shallow subtidal reef just east of the mouth of Pearl Harbor. It is within the military base of Fort Kamehameha, and you could get to it (via a land route) only by going through the base, which meant you had to have access to the base. I went only a few times with people who had such access. A couple other times I was able to get to it by boat from the ocean. The reef had a wide intertidal zone where you could find species under rocks, and a shallow subtidal zone where the reef began to slope down into the navigational channel leading into Pearl. Nudibranchs there were mostly the shallow water varieties, such as Dendrodoris nigra, Gymnodoris alba, and Discodoris lilacina, although I did see a good number of Hypselodoris infucata and a couple of Hypselodoris imperialis among others.
