Acanthurus pyroferus Kittlitz, 1834
Mimic or Chocolate surgeonfish, 29.0cm

This juvenile was in Palikir Pass. Juveniles of this species mimic pygmy angelfish, this one closely resembling a common Centropyge vrolikii. As they grow they change to chocolate brown with an orange patch behind the gill plate and around the pectoral fin bases.
