Pohnpei,
Federated States of Micronesia Fishes
This page presents fishes we have photographed on several short dive trips
to Pohnpei in Micronesia. Most of our Pohnpei trips were taken in the old days
of film with a limited possible number of exposures that were mostly saved for
nudibranchs and sea slugs, so our selection of fish photos is small. Some of
these were taken with older video equipment giving quite low image resolution.
Note that the sizes shown for species are generally the maximum size reported
by fishbase rather than the sizes of any individuals we photographed, although
sometimes I'm not sure if those maximum sizes are correct. Common names used
were taken from iNaturalist
or Fishbase or both; often
the two sources did not agree. I'm sure other references would have provided
additional common names.
