Thala gloriae Rosenberg & Salisbury, 2003
6.9mm (larger specimen)
Thala gloriae is
rare at Kwajalein. We have personally seen no specimens. The photo of two specimens
below was originally taken by Kermit and Gloria Pearson and provided by Richard
Salisbury, who confirmed the ID. The shells figured were both in the Pearson
collection and are paratypes of the species. They were both found on the Kwajalein
Atoll seaward reef slope in rubble at a depth of 10-13m. The shell itself is
superficially very similar to Vexillum
fraudator, which differs in lacking denticles on the outer lip.
