Vexillum turben (Reeve,
1844)
17.8mm
Vexillum turben is moderately rare
at Kwajalein. It can occasionally be found in ledges and caves at night on pinnacle
and seaward reefs at depths of about 10 to at least 20m. This species was placed
by itself in the genus Idiochila by Fedosov
et al (2017), although they noted there was some doubt. The World Register
of Marine Species still lists this species in Vexillum. However, the
shell does appear to have a pretty unique shape so it may indeed be worth separating.
