Oliva ozodona nitidula is typically uncommon at Kwajalein, but is found in a wider range of habitats than any of the other olives. Specimens have been found in sand, sometimes in sand under rocks, on lagoon, pinnacle, and seaward reefs at depths of about 3 to at least 45m. This species was long known as Oliva paxillus.
