Giant clam - Tridacna gigas

We had been watching this medium large one on a lagoon pinnacle for some time. Its shell was mostly covered with small anemone or soft coral-like polyps called zoanthids. Alas, it was discovered by local fishermen and the animal harvested for food. A long-lived, gorgeous animal done in for the sake of a few calories of muscle meat.
