Common giant clam - Tridacna maxima

The pigments in these clams seem to be reflective in one direction. For many of these T. maxima, the color depends on the angle at which the observer views them. From another angle this one might appear a rather dull blue. It seems that no matter the color, they are brightest when the sun is behind the viewer.
