Common giant clam - Tridacna maxima

These two clams were photographed on one dive. It was only while reviewing the photographs after returning home that we noticed they were adjacent to a well camouflaged, potent stinging anemone, Phyllodiscus semoni, that mass that looks like a clump of algae just above the clams in the photo. These anemones are pretty scarce--or maybe just very hard to recognize--so this photo discovery warranted another trip up the reef to the same place the next day for another photo session.
