Fluted clam - Tridacna squamosa

This beautifully ocellated T. squamosa was tucked up against a large T. gigas, a piece of which is visible at lower left. Alas, high swell washed the T. squamosa about 10m shoreward and apparently killed it; we found the empty shell. The T. gigas persisted another couple of years before it was discovered by some local fishermen and harvested for food.
