Lobophora variegata is common in small caves on lagoon, pinnacle and seaward reefs.
It is often at the bases of colonies of staghorn Acropora coral.
Small clumps of what may be the same species encrust some dead fungiid corals on lagoon pinnacle reefs.
Differing in color, the one below is likely something different. The marks almost look like grazing marks, but seem a bit too regular.
